Had a great time with Kiernan Shipka at Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood party last night. It's been a busy week! The trailer for Rio 2 has started running before screenings of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, which opened last night. I play one of Blu's (Jesse Eiesenberg) and Jewel's (Anne Hathaway) three macaws, "brainy Bia." You can see photos and read about it here.
Reunion time with Alexander and Willow
Good news, everybody! Alexander Ludwig, Willow Shields and I managed to avoid getting slimed at Saturday's Kids' Choice Awards. We did get a little on the bottom of our shoes when we walked up on stage to accept the award for Best Movie for The Hunger Games. I had such a good time seeing Willow and Alexander, as we haven't been all together in quite a while. It was an honor to receive the award. Thanks so much to all the fans who voted for us. It means a lot! Keep reading to see more photos.
I am so grateful to the NAACP Image Award committee for nominating me for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for my performance as Rue in The Hunger Games. Also in this category were Kerry Washington (Django Unchained), Gloria Reuben (Lincoln), Phylicia Rashad (Tyler Perry's Good Deeds) and Taraji P. Henson (Think Like a Man). The ceremony aired live on February 1. I've heard that award shows can be boring, but not these! From the rap tribute by Wyclef Jean and Common celebrating Harry Belafonte, to Steve Harvey's jokes, it was lots of fun. Keep reading to see my photo diary from this amazing night!
I couldn't help but clap when Grouplove performed at Teen Vogue's 10th Annual Young Hollywood Party last night. I love their song "Tongue Tied." I've been singing it all day long! To see who I ran into at the party, check out the Red Carpet Gallery. Congrats to Victoria Justice, who's on the October cover of Teen Vogue, the Young Hollywood issue), and to my Hunger Games castmates Willow Shields and Isabelle Fuhrman, who look gorgeous inside. If you go to the People Watching page, you'll see me talking about my fashion style. Here's a sneak peek before you go to the newsstand!
Here I am with Bulali (left) and Nomawethu (right).
It's been a busy week! After saying goodbye to Big Ben, the Corinthia hotel and all the out-of-this-world fun at Collectormania in England, I flew to New York to attend Ubuntu Education Fund's gala, which was held on June 6 at Roseland Ballroom. (Thanks to Burberry for this purple dress, and to my mom for styling me - she thought these strappy gold Adrienne Vittadini shoes would work.) The turn-out was humongous, and so were the donations. I am so happy to be a part of this important cause, which I talked to Teen Vogue about. What was most exciting was that I was able to meet face-to-face some of the many amazing people who help make Ubuntu Ubuntu: founder Jacob Lief, the organizers Charlotte Renfield-Miller and Kabibi M'Poko-and last but not least, Nomowethu and Bulali. Nomawethu is a counselor at Ubuntu in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and Bulali is a "scholar" who has benefited from Ubuntu's health and education resources. We first met the day before the gala and got to know each other. ...
I had the best time yesterday at the Kids Choice Awards! The highlights: Talking with Kelly Osbourne from Fashion Police on the orange carpet about how much I love the show, and realizing we were both wearing Tony Ward Couture. I also wore gold Kate Spade Oxfords. BTW Kelly's hair is super-cool. Hope you saw the interview on E! ... There were stars galore and the most awesome moment came when Taylor Swift said to me, "You're Rue!" and asked if we could take a picture together. I only wish I had the evidence: My manager misplaced her camera so if anyone finds it, please get it back to her! Or at least upload the KCAs photos so we can see them. LOL! ... Of course, it's always fun to see The Hunger Games crew: Dayo, Jackie, Isabelle, Willow, Alexander and Josh. And in case you were wondering: I did get slimed, right along with Justin Bieber at the end. But not one drop touched my dress. Phew! For more Choice photos, go to the Red Carpet gallery. Btw, I went to a couple of gift lounges on Friday and met lots of fun vendors, including two amazing teen sisters, who have a skincare line, and a jewelry designer who custom-made a special Mockingjay pin just for me. I also got a fox face necklace for Jackie. Thanks so much to GBK Productions, BOP and Tigerbeat, and PopStar.
Which THG costar did I tell reporters I hoped would get slimed (all in fun, of course!)
I can't believe how many fans have turned out to see The Hunger Games! I went to the very first show at midnight with a small group of friends, then did it again Friday night with about 60 friends and family members, including Leven Rambin, Dayo Okeniyi (well, he dropped by at the beginning of the movie) and my aunt, who surprised me by flying in from New York. Afterwards, we hit up Ben & Jerry's. Yes, The Hunger Games made us all scream for ice cream!
It was a long, crazy day because I did two TV interviews, one with Sam Rubin from KTLA's morning news program in L.A., and and the other with E! News. Sam was so much fun and such a good interviewer. Before I went on at about 8:20, he tweeted, "Psyched to have Hunger Games star @amandlastenberg with us live in minutes... quick, which leading lady does Amandla really look like?" Can you guess? My family keeps teasing me about one answer I gave: Sam asked, "So, how does one become a good tree climber?" Me: "You climb trees repeatedly." While at KTLA, I also got to see anchor Michaela Perreira, who was the moderator for a panel I did for Justine magazine at GirlTopia a few months ago.
Keep reading to see which costars I saw Thursday night!
What more is there to say? I had a blast at the premiere. It was a dream come true! From the red carpet interviews, to reuniting with all of the movie's actors and filmmakers, to seeing Suzanne Collins again...I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night. A big shout-out to stylist Sophia Banks Coloma, makeup artist Aliesh Pierce and hair magician Charles Baker Strahan, who helped me put it all together. A reporter said my look was very Tinkerbell, while others called it Old Hollywood or retro. I actually think it was both! The Collette Dinnigan dress was my first choice, and the Forevermark diamond earrings made me feel super-special. Thanks to Bottega Veneta for the cool clutch and to Kimberly Mcdonald for the pinkie ring, which fit perfectly - on my index finger. I also want to thank my parents for starting it all by making me!

First stop on my mall tour - Atlanta! It's all happening so fast, so I'd better get it all down quick! After doing interviews with some college newspapers in the morning, I headed with Dayo Okeniyi, Leven Rambin and Jack Quaid to CNN to do online and on-air interviews. Next, we went to the Lenox Square mall's Microsoft store to sign posters with 250 VIP guests. My favorites was a little girl wearing a homemade Rue shirts. Check her out below. Then after doing red carpet interviews and signing posters for the fans, the gang, along with Liam Hemsworth, did a Q & A panel with fans. Before I knew it, it was time to head to the airport for the next stop - Miami. But not before getting a long hug from my best friend, Skye, who nows lives in Atlanta.
Hope everyone enjoyed watching the Oscars and the red carpet fashion! One of my favorite looks was Jessica Chastain's amazing Alexander McQueen. Jackie Emerson and I went to InStyle magazine's viewing party at Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood where we raided the candy bar for Gummy bears, Reese's Pieces and Sour Patch Kids. (Click here to see who else attended!) I really loved my dress, which was designed by Belle Sauvage. It has these cool mint green side panels that were three-dimensional, and a purple other- wordly print down the front and back that reminded me of something someone in The Hunger Games' Capitol would wear. (Thanks to stylist Sophie Banks Coloma!) I wore my own Calvin Klein peep toe shoes, along with a purple Tyler Alexander purse and sparkling Forevermark drop earrings. Jackie looked pretty in pink (and red!) Preen.
