Grazing in the grass
Earlier this week, I made a whirlwind trip to Mexico City to attend the screening of Colombiana with the wonderful cast and crew. It was so good to see everyone - my director, Olivier Megaton, and the producers Ariel Zeitoun and Sandrine Molto. (Again, Happy Birthday, Ariel!) I was also glad to be reunited with the cow sculpture that hangs out near the pool in my hotel there. ...
I watched Colombiana for the fifth time with Ofelia Medina.
I especially loved spending time with my screen grandmother, the amazing Ofelia Medina. The famous Mexican actress and human rights activist played Frida before Salma Hayek. She shared stories about how hard it was to get anyone interested in artist Frida Kahlo's life when she made her movie, meeting Madonna, and shooting in the actual home where Frida had lived. I hope I get to visit one day. I also couldn't help but admire Ofelia's style: She explained her dress looks Mexican, but it's actually from Lebanon. Another fun fact: She has spent lots of time in Denmark (I'm half Danish!) and has traveled to Greenland where my grandmother was from.
